June Virtual Graduation Ceremonies for PVNCC Students

A message from the Director of Education of the Peterborough, Victoria, Northumberland and Clarington Catholic School Board

“As we head into the weekend and the homestretch of this school year, we wanted to provide some important updates and reminders.

The Ministry of Education has announced that it would allow school boards to invite graduating students to return to school in June for a short, outdoor celebration, where physical distancing is possible.

In consideration of ongoing health measures, and after discussion with our local public health units, we will be proceeding with plans to celebrate graduations virtually and will not be holding in-person graduation ceremonies at our schools.

Our elementary and secondary schools are putting the final touches on thoughtful and meaningful virtual celebrations for Grade 8 and Grade 12 grads.

School staff will be in touch with Grade 8 and 12 students to outline a schedule for graduates to individually attend school in person to receive diplomas and to be acknowledged by staff.”

Sincerely,
Joan Carragher, Director of Education

Fall Graduation Ceremonies for KPR Students

A message from Director of Education for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board

I want to share with you some important KPR News related to graduations and end-of-year matters.

Regrettably, in consideration of ongoing health measures and after discussion with our local public health units, we will not be able to hold in-person graduation ceremonies at our schools this June.

Graduations are momentous milestones, and we regret that we are unable to provide the opportunities we wish for all students.

Based on ongoing public health restrictions, however, schools have spent months planning and creating meaningful virtual graduation ceremonies.

Given the ongoing health directives and the risks posed by large gatherings, we remain concerned for the safety of students, families and staff. We also know from experience that it simply is not possible to organize large, in-person events in the last couple of weeks of school.

In light of the safety concerns for students, staff and community, we are regretfully confirming that:

Sincerely,
Rita Russo, Director of Education
